Can you use Vitamin C and Retinol together?Updated 2 months ago

This is one of the questions we hear most often and the truth is, not only can you combine Vitamin C and Retinol but, in fact, you need to in order to get the most out of your skincare routine. This is an essential combination that gets a bad rap because these ingredients can both cause skin sensitivity when used incorrectly.

Here is an excerpt from one of Dr. Karam's Journal Articles: Skincare Myths: Tips You Should Never Follow

"This only applies if you are using Vitamin C and Retinol from different sources. Some brands are not compatible with each other, and those differences in the product formulations can lead to irritation or adverse effects. However, if you are using a comprehensive system, with products that have been developed to work together, like Quench Vitamin C Serum and Illuminate Anti-Aging Cream, you are not only going to avoid incompatibility issues, but they are going to work synergistically to enhance one another's effects."

In order to prevent irritation sometimes caused when using these ingredients together, we've encapsulated our Retinol to allow for a slow release to the skin and added anti-inflammatories around the Vitamin C. In addition, we've formulated our Vitamin C serum (Quench) and our all-in-one Retinol cream (Illuminate) with two daily half doses of these ingredients for a gentler result.
